Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta series: I never read her books when they were first published, so I was excited to try this series now that I have more time to read & based on the reviews that I had read. I have to say that the first two books of her series read pretty well, however, they do show their age. Nothing wrong with this, but clearly, these are dated novels. I only mention this because to me the ebooks are overpriced based on how old they are- Amazon is asking a premium for novels that are decades old. Plus, I see that the Spanish ebk editions are all 6.99, & to me this is about what they are worth in English also. I hate price-gouging!!! I would like to read the series, but it won't be by the ebook version at the $10 a pop listed- outrageous price for books this old!!! Bring the price down so that more people can experience these books! Also, as far as Cornwell's writing goes, some of the passages were choppy & could have been written in a more seamless manner for better clarity. Good book, not spectular, & certainly not worth 9.99 each!!!

I like Cornwell's writing and her characters, Kay Scarpetta has a palpable and engaging voice. The actual plot of the novel feels like it was drunkenly thrown together, just all over the place, but it's worth reading for the main character's layered inner dialog.
Hard to get into at first, however, it was well worth the effort to continue reading. I definitely recommend this novel to any fans of Patricia Cornwell
Just finished reading this lovely novel by Patricia Cornwell. I have read most of her series. I did not like the first two because they were in third person but these others that she writes are amazing. How she can go into such detail amazes me! Highly recommend for any forensic lover!
I chose this book to read again because her works have been my favorite for a long time. The truth is I am just starting to read online because I love the feel of a good book and they are my friends. What a better way to start than by reading an old friend online. I recommend her books to anyone that follows suspense.
I had never read any of Patricia Cornwell's books, but since becoming familiar with her after seeing her on the Katie show, I thought "what the heck, I'm going to start from the beginning". And that's what I have done and I ma loving every minute of these books! I couldn't put this one down, from every twist and turn of the case to the "tension" between Scarpetto and Marino (and a little Mark on the side) I loved every minute. The only story line I wish was more thorough is the one with Lucy. I wish Scarpetta would take her in and she would start running the computer show around the office!
I've read most of the Scarpetta books and have enjoyed the first 6 or 7 the most. The story lines are complex and the details into the life of a medical examiner fascinated me. I love Marino because he is a breath of fresh air. The plot and the content of how evidenc is uncovered from policework and the analysis of the dead is really compelling. I'd suggst doing the "read inside" preview to see if it's your kind of book. I skim over the grizzly parts-but I'm kind of a wimp.My Husband Ran Off with the Nanny and God Do I Miss Her
Absolutely LOVE Patrica Cornwell. Every time I think I have it figured out, she comes along and surprises the heck out of me. The first book was good. This book was better and I have a feeling she's going to keep surprising me the more I read.
I love the characters. Especially Marino. He's hard around the edges but I can tell he's a sweet ol' bear.
Sometimes the forensics speech is a little much but the more I read, the better I am able to decipher. Anytime an author can make me reach beyond my intelligence is good by me.
The writing is solid. The descriptions are impeccable. She really transports you into the thick of it. She is a phenomenal writer. Highly recommend her in general.
